#this just KILLS me and you know why? #because she’s saying her goodbyes #she thinks she’ll possibly never see him again and she can’t bear the thought of her last words to him being anything else #and she can’t move; she can’t kiss him or hug him or be surrounded by him #she can’t even really cry like she wants to because she can’t shift her weight too much #and he’s clearly affected with those red-rimmed eyes and that soft expression #but he tosses his i love you back without tears and with strength and convinction #and the best part to me is that he doesn’t get emotional or worked up over it #because he knows he’s coming back #it doesn’t even occur to him to cry like she’s crying #because even though he’s saying goodbye he already knows it’s temporary #he already knows he’s just going for coffee and will fight his way back to her if he has to #he already knows that he’s only doing this to fulfill his promise to her to ‘leave’ for his own protection #and so he does as she asks and he gives her this closure #because she needs these moments to grieve and fall apart and say goodbye #because they can’t save her if she’s caught up in grieving #they can’t work through this problem until she’s accepted the worst that’s blocking everything out of her mind #so he lets her have those moments to compose herself and deal with this situation #and then comes back and they get to work #if you don’t think castle is the most patient and understanding man ever then you’re wrong #because he GETS kate beckett #he understands what she needs even when it’s all jumbled up in her own brain #this scene is like the ‘i love you’ version of the goodnight/until tomorrow scene #it’s so fundamentally them #kate says goodnight/goodbye #castle says until tomorrow/i’ll be right back #SOBBING #seriously these two are RUINING ME

Can we just imagine how good season 5’s bloopers are going to be. The kiss bloopers, the cast dancing as usual, and I’m really hoping we see a blooper of that scene where Beckett was being sexy while Castle was playing his video game.
